Here is the list of the top 5 upcoming electric cars in India in 2021. Companies like Maruti, Tata, and Mahindra are launching their new EVs this year.

2021 is going to be a remarkable year for Electric Vehicles in India. Many big auto companies are entering the EV space. Tata already launched their electric SUV- Tata Nexon EV, in 2020.
Companies like Maruti, Mahindra, and Tesla have plans to enter the Indian EV market this year.
Here is a list of the top 5 upcoming electric cars in India in 2021.

Maruti WagonR Electric

WagonR is one of the most sold cars in India. Maruti will launch the electric version of this car in 2021. 

Maruti started testing the 50 prototypes of the WagonR EV back in 2020. They are being tested in various weathers and terrains across the country.

Maruti has also started building a lithium-ion cell plant in Gujarat. This will help them manufacture EVs at an affordable cost. 

The cost of this car is expected to be around ₹9 lakhs

Mahindra eKUV 100

Mahindra launched its smallest EV at the Auto Expo 2020. The eKUV 100 comes with a 15.9kWh battery pack. It has a fast-charging option, which charges it up to 80% in just one hour. It offers a range of 147km.

It has features like cabin pre-cooling, location tracking, remote diagnostics, and monitoring the driving pattern of the driver. The safety features include rear parking sensors, dual front airbags, front seatbelt alert, overspeeding alert, and ABS with EBD.

Mahindra will offer it with an ex-showroom price of  ₹9 lakhs.

Tata Altroz EV

Tata showcased the Altroz EV at the Auto Expo 2020. Technical details of this car are not yet out. But you can expect it to be almost similar to that of the Nexon EV.

It is likely to have a battery pack of 30kWh capacity, and it will offer a range close to 300 km. 

Altroz EV has a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch TFT display, which shows information like charge remaining, range, and other vehicle alerts. It also has an auto AC with rear AC vents, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

You can expect the price range between ₹12-₹14 lakhs.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric

Mahindra unveiled the electric version of their XUV in 2020. It is Mahindra’s first long-range EV. 

The design of this EV is a little bit different from the fuel XUV. The front end looks different because there is no grille.

The interior of the car is similar to that of a regular XUV. The smaller screen is replaced with a large touchscreen display. 

Technical specifications are not out yet. After the launch, it is going to compete with the Tata Nexon EV, which is the most sold electric car of 2020. 

It is likely to be priced around ₹15 lakhs.

After the wait for so many years, Tesla is finally going to launch its car in India in 2021. 

Model 3 will be the first Tesla car in India. It is the cheapest Tesla model.

It has a range of 568 km/charge. It can accelerate from 0-100 in just 3.1 seconds.

In terms of safety, it has got a 5-star overall rating from NHTSA. 2 independent motors digitally control the torque of the front and rear wheels. 

With just 15 minutes of charging at the Supercharging station, you can drive it for 280 kilometers.

One of the most interesting features of this car is the Autopilot mode. This car is equipped with the rear, side, and forward-facing cameras, which provide 360° visibility. 

The 160m forward-facing radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors provide a long-range view of distant objects, Detect nearby cars, prevent potential collisions, and assists with parking.

With all the taxes, it will cost around  ₹65-70 lakhs in India.
